Fine Art Workshop
Artists today face a wide and often confusing array of drawing materials. Regardless of whether an artist is working in a traditional or modernist manner the selection of the most appropriate drawing material effects the quality of the finished work as well as the quality of the drawing experience for the artist. The workshop will explore characteristics of a variety of drawing media and how the individual characteristics are suited in context with a variety of drawing venues.
Topics to be covered in a two hour workshop will include:
Sketching as a way of seeing and preparing
Matching materials to visual effect…..a survey of materials and their properties and when to use them (e.g. for figurative studies, still lifes, on paper, on canvas) Values; creating form and establishing light with value development
